PHILIPPINES: Marikina residents return home.

Residents of Marikina have gone back to their homes after the water level in the Marikina river has dropped from a critical level.

From the 25,174 individuals who stayed in evacuation centers on Friday, only 1,175 have remained.

Those remaining are also expected to troop to their homes on Sunday.

The local government of Marikina implemented a mandatory evacuation of residents near the river on Friday, at the height of tropical storm “Falcon”.

The nonstop rains since Thursday brought the level at a high of 18.2 meters. It is now around 15 meters and continues to go down.

Students are also expected to go back to school Monday.

Country’s 1st Plant Billboard Launched
Ever heard of a billboard that helps protect the environment?
The plant billboard, the first in the country, was made possible  through the partnership of beverage giant Coca-Cola Philippines and  environmental group World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The 60x60-foot billboard located along EDSA-Forbes area, will use  thriving species of Fukien tea plant , which is known to absorb air  pollutants.
The plants are spread across the billboard with a space in the center in the shape of a Coca-Cola bottle.
